Modern Chiropractic Report of Findings for the Millennial Generation

Chiropractic report of findings (ROF) are important. Some DCs foolishly stick with their same old ROF style year after year. Although consistency has it’s place and principles don’t change; the truth is that our culture, society, language, and even us, are constantly changing. Chiropractic talk needs to be spoken in a variety of ways.
The chiropractic report of findings, ROF, is a vital component of chiropractic practice management and marketing.
DCs are wise to have several styles/versions of their ROF for differing age groups/circumstances. Here is a modern chiropractic report of findings that is very relevant to the Millennial age group (those born between the late 1970’s and early 2000’s). These folks are also sometimes referred to as Generation Y.
Notice the frequent use of modern words (in bold red).

Dr Potisk’s 21st century Millennial ROF:
“Don’t let your health go over a cliff!

Bailout your accumulated structural damage/neurological deficits and make an epic transformation with daily, then 2-3 X/week adjustments for the next 12 weeks. Then, if you’re interested in continually releasing your communication network to maximize your inborn optimum wellness, reboot your nervous system with an adjustment once per week perpetually. You’re entitled to it! The unsubsidized cost for this is normally $_____, but we are committed to building a team of …

Introduction: Chiropractic Marketing Power

I bet you are a lot like me- we hate getting stuck. Whether its stuck waiting for an airplane,  in the snow, in a traffic jam, standing in a slow moving line, or even in some relationships. That frustrating feeling of not going anywhere is the same pain many chiropractors feel with their practices.

Occasionally I meet a DC who seems content with or at least accepting of their level of stagnation, perhaps having maxed out their mastery of their technique, communication, or management …

Your Staff May be Stealing: 4 Stop-Gap Embezzlement Procedures Chiropractors Must Do.

Embezzlement, my office, my staff, my CA? Never!
Ha! Think again.
Embezzlement is a common financial disruption to chiropractic offices. Even worse, many DCs don’t know its happening, won’t accept that it’s happening, or don’t wake up to it until it becomes a catastrophe.
I talk with chiropractors all over the country through my ChirotoChiro.com chiropractor’s counseling service, and employee theft is a common dilemma that can devastate a practice, especially in this current economy. The loss of the money is only part of the problem. The real cost comes in the lost trust, division, suspicion, and in-the-toilet morale that permeates the practice.
Thankfully, I have some advice that can make embezzlement near impossible. And if you have a recent theft, if you act fast, a solution that worked well for me.
The following is an excerpt from my book Reclaim the Joy of Practice: An Advanced Guide for Advancing Doctors:
“Theft is a real threat in every doctor’s practice. Horror stories abound with doctors that lost thousands to embezzlement. Don’t expect to ever get much returned once it’s stolen even if the thief is caught and ordered to pay restitution. Instead, be pre-emptive by having tight monitoring of collections and continual cross-checking. It’s crucial to both discourage theft and catch it before it gets too far out of hand. Make one person responsible for financial transactions in your office, expecting reports of daily tabulations, and hold them accountable. Insist that all bank …

Are you a “likeable” chiropractor?

The consensus of experts is that “likeability” is an extremely important component of one’s success. This applies not only to political candidates but also Doctors of Chiropractic and their chiropractic practices.

The Washington Post and Fox news recently ran news reports about the likeability of the presidential candidates. NPR even featured an hour long radio broadcast named “The Presidential Race: Does Likeability Matter?”
Are you likeable, Mr. or Ms. Chiropractor?
As I consult with and counsel DCs across the nation, I’ve become very aware of the significance of this personal quality.
You might already have guessed that one’s likeability by the public is very much related to one’s like or unlike of self. Sometimes it’s conscious and sometimes it’s subconscious.  This is often not easy to determine.  So, I developed a simple and free self-rating test that I call the Chiropractor’s Success Test.
This comprehensive series of questions is a great self-evaluation tool. DCs have been emailing me their scores, and I’m compiling them for rating one’s self against one’s peers.  The average score is highly surprising and I’ll be happy to share it with you, but I require you to provide your score (kept confidential of course) so that I can continue to increase the sample size and compile a more accurate average.
So, can one improve their likeability? I’m happy to answer with a resounding “YES”, and even more delighted that I’ve …

New Documentary – Doctored: My Review. Does it make the cut?

I just watched the new movie by Jeff Hays called Doctored: Exposing the Modern Medical Monopoly (formerly called Medical Inc). Mr Hays also holds credit for the documentaries Farenhype9/11 and On Native Soil.
This version I watched of Doctored is known as a ‘Director’s cut”  in Lombard IL. This was a preliminary and un-finalyzed version that timed out at approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes.
My family joined me for this pre-release screening. I make an effort to bring my family (my wife Susan, Andy 17, Emily 14, and Mike 12) to many of these type events because I enjoy observing their reactions and impressions. I also want them to learn more about my life’s mission/purpose, not to mention the truth about real health care. Overall they enjoy these adventures; although I’ve noticed it helps if I add a promise of ice cream. LOL!
So we walk into the screening room, and I’m immediately greeted by a gentleman who introduces himself and says he is part of the promotional team for the movie and that “We want to get more people into your chiropractic office.” I say “cool!”
We took a seat in the front row for a great view. The dozen or so rows behind us were filling fast. You can see some of my red-heads in the picture below on the lower right corner.

Amazon Chiropractor: A Christian Mission Trip

A Chiropractor in the Amazon? Yep, this was another of my many adventures. These voluntary chiropractic mission trips are several highlights of my career. Here is my story.

“Obrigado” (thank you), they all say in Portuguese as they shake my hand after their adjustment.  “Genada” (you’re welcome), I reply.  Some of the hundreds of patients I treated this week have traveled quite far to see the “Americano Quiropraktor” (American Chiropractor).  I was the only chiropractor in all of northern Brazil; specifically the state of Amazonas, an area larger than the state of Alaska.  That reality really struck me when I started asking some of these patients how far they traveled.  I was surprised when some told me through my translator, Marilia, that they came 3 hours by boat;  stunned when some said they traveled 8 hours; and then I was in disbelief when two told me they came 3 days, sleeping in hammocks as their ferry boat chugged up the miles wide Amazon River!  I had to ask them again, 2 or 3 times “You really specifically traveled 3 days by boat to get a chiropractic adjustment?”  To them, this travel is common.

Life here revolves around the Amazon River; not the longest, but definitely the largest in terms of width and volume of water.  They say it carries 100 times more water than any other river.  The city …
